The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination was established in 1958 by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate with the assistance of the Inter - State Board for Anglo - Indian Education. It is registered under Societies Registration Act, No. XXI of 1860. The Council administers two Public Examinations - The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) at the end of Class X, and subsequently the Indian School Certificate (ISC) at the end of Class XII.
